It’s all about the character!

Life is a journey but what would take you to the finish line? Life is a quest but what would make you a winner? My bet is that our “character” will draw the line!

Some argue that life is unfair but had it been fair with Job? Some may debate that our “environments” would play a big role but looking at Joseph’s life, his “character” played much bigger. You may have a winning case but if your character fails to function well, you will lose along the way.

Yes, it’s all about our character! Things may present to us as an astounding surprise or likely expected, but the bottom line is, how much our “winning character” will stand out. We may have a long list of unanswered questions but the truth still lies, how are you going to respond while seeking for the answers?

Ephesians 4:14-15 (personally revised version): “Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by life’s challenges and every questions left unanswered, and blown here and there by every offensive word, unacceptable reasons and unfavorable circumstances. Instead, speaking (and believing) the truth in love, we will grow having an unoffended life to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.”

2011 is said to be a great year – greater than ever! It’s our time to shine, our time to walk in the light and to be the light! But as we all know, there’s a price to pay for greater acceleration! As we are all in the market, most of us are working on different industries, there’s always a platform for us to excel – be skilled in whatever comes to our hands not for our name, but for HIS name.

I have been learning a lot from King Solomon chewing on every chunk written in Proverbs – not just reading and hearing but making each principle a reality. Solomon was known to be the wisest man in his time. How wise? All other kingdoms were willing to pay just to hear his wisdom! We want the world to listen to us? Be wise!

Here are few lines that keep on echoing on my head (all from Proverbs)

1. Acquire wisdom. Get insight. Love knowledge. – These are all over the book of Proverbs! We may all want the second word of each phrases “wisdom, insight and knowledge” but ignore the first one, “acquire, get and love”. There’s a step to take, a time to commit, an effort to extend. If we want excellence in our work and all areas of our lives, TAKE ACTION!

2. “For the waywardness of the naive will kill them, And the complacency of fools will destroy them.” – Proverbs 1:32

(a) “For the waywardness of the naive will kill them…” – alignment to HIS word is always a requirement. Obedience is always a prerequisite. Don’t compromise! Stay focus!

(b) “…And the complacency of fools will destroy them.” – Don’t ever embrace mediocrity and never sit on your laurel; KEEP ON MOVING UP! There’s so much more to achieve. Don’t ever think that you have reached the top; remember that we go from glory to glory!

3. Listen to the words of the wise! Solomon reiterated many times in Proverbs, “listen my son…” or “pay attention to what I will say…” Learn from the best! Don’t ignore the teachings on excellent spirit and all those gifts given to us. Listen to the words given to Destiny! Listen to the words of GOD!
